Monday 23rd April 7pm and the campus library at Beaumaris was full of excited Year 7 and 8 students with their parents. We are trialling the use of iPads with a couple of groups at the college to gauge the effectiveness of using them as a tool for both teaching and learning. Students involved in the project have been participating in a range of online and iPad based activities already, and are now going to take the iPads home to continue the 24/7 1:1 access of the devices.
Teachers have started to prepare online courses for students using Moodle as a learning management platform, as well as a range of applications and the use of Google tools including Google Documents. Students have been introduced to a range of Digital Citizenship and Cybersafety issues and discussed their rights and responsibilities.
Teaching staff, students and parents are looking forward to some exciting 21st Century learning opportunities.
