Sandy 7-10 Book Club held its first meeting for 2015 last week. Students meet every week to discuss books, compete in Sandy Readers’ Cup and participate in fun activities based around YA fiction. Students were lucky enough to meet Jack, an original member of book club run by Mrs Holmquest. Jack completed Year 12 at Sandringham College last year and will continue his studies at Deakin University, he was an avid reader during his time at the college.
During the first meeting students discussed World War I fiction, new books are being released regularly to coincide with the 100 year commemoration of the landing at Gallipoli. Popular titles amoung students are

Not only did Beaumaris Campus students get to dress up in footy gear or as their hero today, but members of the Beaui Campus Book Club had a an amazing morning tea to celebrate the completion of the Readers Cup. Students have read two books, Birth of a Killer by Darren Shan and Legend by Marie Lu. They have completed a quiz on each book and have created a jigsaw puzzle.
For their reward they feasted on party pies, sausage rolls, cakes and watermelon while listening to each member discuss their favorite book.
Well done on a fantastic term!!!
21 book club members are currently competing in the 2013 Beaumaris Campus Readers Cup. Book club members have read the books Legend by Marie Lu and Birth of a killer by Darren Shan. 3 teams of 7 have just completed quiz question relating to the two set books. The teams are now working on their creative piece, which they will present to the other members at a special literary luncheon.
Book club is well and truly underway on the Beaumaris Campus. Students are working on The Readers Cup. They have been given two books to read: Legend by Marie Lu and The saga of Larten Crepsley: Birth of a killer by Darren Shan. Once they have read these books they will form teams to compete in the cup. The first part will be answering trivial pursuit type questions based on both books. The Year 10 students in the club will be making these up. They will then be asked to create a piece of work based on one of the books, it could be a poster, a book trailer a picture book, it is up to their creative and imaginative minds. We will then celebrate with a literary lunch.
