The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) presented the 2014 Victorian Training Awards on 26th September. The Awards, now in their 60th year, showcase outstanding achievements and innovation in Victoria’s vocational education and training (VET). Sandringham College is proud to announce that we secured the Winner’s Award for The Victorian VET in Schools Excellence Award for outstanding training and delivery of vocational education and training in secondary schools.
Last Wednesday the VET Visual Art students put on an impressive show in the theatre foyer gallery, displaying their 2-d projects as part of the VET music night. The work looked great, ranging in concepts exploring portraiture and identity to personal expressions on cultural issues. Students were influenced by research into an artist of their choice.
It was a rewarding experience having a gallery full of students, parents and teachers to experience the students creative endeavours. The work will be on display for another 2 weeks. Congratulations to all the students involved!
Sandringham VET Hospitality students are able to cater in their very own Sandy’s Training Restaurant situated at the Senior Campus. The VET Hospitality class is made up of Year 10, 11 and 12 students. Throughout the year they have gained experience by working in a commercial kitchen at Holmesglen TAFE, through Industry experience and by catering for a range of functions. Their most recent function was to cater a two course meal for sixty Senior staff within one hour. The student’s worked efficiently and presented themselves in a highly professional manner. The teacher’s were very complimentary of the standard of food served. We look forward to preparing and serving lunch at our Training Restaurant over the next couple of months.
