Last Wednesday the VET Visual Art students put on an impressive show in the theatre foyer gallery, displaying their 2-d projects as part of the VET music night. The work looked great, ranging in concepts exploring portraiture and identity to personal expressions on cultural issues. Students were influenced by research into an artist of their choice.
It was a rewarding experience having a gallery full of students, parents and teachers to experience the students creative endeavours. The work will be on display for another 2 weeks. Congratulations to all the students involved!
Yesterday the Year 12 Art and Studio Arts Drawing and Photography students visited the Top Arts Exhibition. Displayed at the NGV Studio, Federation Square, Top Arts is an annual event which showcases around 50 of the top artworks and folios from across the state. As part of our excursion we viewed the folios supporting the works exhibited as well as an informative lecture which gave us insightful information about the ideas and themes behind the artworks.
Viewing the folios
Tao Delves was one of 150 entries shortlisted out of around 3000 for her artwork ‘Stack’. Unfortunately she was not in the final selection of works to be displayed in the show but we are all very proud of her work.
As part of our day we also visited a range of exhibitions in the city. Gavin Brown’s show ‘Urban Scrawl’ at 45 Downstairs, Flinders Lane, was a highlight.
