New Year 7 Parents’ Evening.

On Tuesday 21st February, all Year 7 parents and guardians were invited to attend the New Year 7 Parents’ Evening. The turnout was fantastic and I would like to thank all those who attended. We began with an introduction to Frank McNamara – Campus Co-ordinator, Heath McMillin – Campus Principal, Ciar Foster – Year 7&8 Engagement and Pathways Leader and Rosie Hindle – Year 7 Student Manager.

Parents were then asked to move into the form rooms and meet with our Year 7 form tutors. The form teachers took the opportunity to go through essential transition information. Parents also took the opportunity to get their questions answered and to feedback on student transition so far.

The feedback we received has been fantastic; students feeling happy and excited to be at Sandringham College, at ease with their new timetables and moving from room to room, and, an appreciation for the extra activities already available to them.

We also received a letter of thanks, of which I would like to include an excerpt:

“Student: Mum, I feel so comfortable at school, I really, really have enjoyed every day so far.

Mum: So you feel secure?

Student: Yes.”

Once again, thank you to all parents who attended and gave us feedback. Also, a big thank you to all Year 7 form teachers and teachers who are easing this transition and making it an exciting and fulfilling time.
